Plot and story line information for Toy Box, The
One of the most utterly insane movies from Sexploitation Cinema. Bizarre, perverted, total trash. Starring the ultimate sex siren Uschi Digard. I'm utterly confused at what director Ronald Víctor García and legendary producer Harry H. Novak were exactly trying to achieve here and whether they succeeded or not. Both of the men had little connections to the psychedelic scene at the time, so I assume "The Toy Box" was meant to cash in on the scene and appeal to the raincoat crowd. The film is a bit of psychedelic exploitation excess and becomes incredibly strange because of this. It wavers comfortably between the intentionally and unintentionally bizarre, working on its own inner logic. The twist ending in particular must be seen to be believed.
The film is interesting and entertaining mainly because of director Ronald Víctor García. He works well with the obvious budgetary limitations. He knows how to stage a scene and lend it the right amount of mysteriousness and unease. At all moments, one suspects something isn't right. And while the weirdness of it all prove it could only come from the 70s, surprisingly enough some of the films erotic value is still intact. While the men look like unwashed hippies, the women here are still gorgeous, especially the luscious Uschi Digard. Her sex scene with a possessed bed (I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried) is possibly the best sex scene in all of 70s sexploitation cinema. "The Toy Box" is one of the weirdest titles from a notoriously weird genre, and thats a recommendation for trash fans.
